In Zone Focus: Smells Like Petrichor By Melissa Kwan

Just as the rain stopped, I spotted a reflection of this old school lamppost on a puddle of water – noticed a guy walking towards me from the corner of my viewfinder, pre-focused and took the shot. All the elements came together almost instantaneously. I shot this on slide film and experimented with cross-processing, however the colours turned out a tad too funky for the purist in me and so I decided to convert it to black and white. – Melissa Kwan
