Photo Essay: Paradise, Mauritius by Andrew Tan

God first made Mauritius and from it he created Paradise’ — this is what Mark Twain had to say about the beautiful group of islands. Mauritius Beaches are the greatest attractions.

Mauritius is unspoilt by modernity, frozen in time. Most tourist would only spend time at the beach, but i ventured into the heart of the country.

Locals are made up of Creoles, Indians, Africans, Chinese and Europeans. Everything is in French and everyone speaks French, it’s strange to see local Chinese speaking French with each other.

Life is simple, no rush, no stress of the big city. People go about their business in an unhurried fashion.

Fishing villages dot around the island and there is a sense of calmness and serenity about it. Relaxing is easy.

It’s a place to get away from it all.
