With Alex Lee leading the way for this one. RFSG lads headed out to Chai Chee Estate on the 15th of Jan to assist in photography while the volunteer groups go around assisting in spring cleaning & food distribution to the needy & poor of Chai Chee Estate.

It was quite an eye opener into the one room rental flats that these folks stay in. Many were overly filled with unnecessary rubbish, some were so filthy, I saw bed bug all over the wall, ceiling etc.

Thumbs up to the volunteers who burnt their weekend doing distribution work & delivery of food to the needy.

Last Sunday (15th Jan), I had the opportunity to document a rice distribution and spring cleaning event held in Chai Chee Estate for the elderly and needy. Over 300 volunteers were involved in distributing 5kg rice bags to every unit and providing spring cleaning for various households. During the event, volunteers also interviewed the residents, taking note of their needs and concerns.

Stepping into a 1-room flat for the first time was an eye opener. The interiors were often minimal and simple. Some were cluttered with unnecessary junk and there was even a unit which had 8 inhabitants.

Organizing such a project would not only be an outreach to the needy, but also to remind us how fortunate we are.
