Photo Essay: Streets Of Shanghai By Maxime Even

These shots were mainly taken in the old quarters of Shanghai on the Puxi side of the city. Old buildings are a quickly disappearing sight in this fast growing and developing city. In these streets, you feel that time has stopped.

There, people still cook outside their houses, do their business in the streets and they all know one another.

200 meters away, on the other side of the Huangpu River you find yourself in the ultra high-tech business district of Pudong where deals are done and people from everywhere in the world work in air-conditioned offices. Shanghai is such an interesting and vibrant city full of contrasts and friendly people.
